Actually, the term ‘rosbif’ was originally a compliment paid to the English, by the French, for their unparallelled ability to cook. About 3 or 4 centuries ago, England was at the forefront of the culinary scene, and the British roast was such a renowned dish that French chefs sent their underlings to England to further their culinary skills.
It has since, unfortunately, become a base insult, used by ignorant anglophobic hoodlums.
