How hard is it to break in to the Sports Business world?

I always had a passion for it and now I am thinking of going back and getting an MBA with a concentration in Sports Business at maybe Arizona St. Anyone know the types of jobs offers I can expect despite not working in the sports business world thus far in my career. Anyone working in the industry with some advice?

How do I break in as a sports personality?

Right now I’m in school for Computer Networking. Just to have something to fall back on if this doesn’t work out. But I want to get into sports radio or sports television. Not being a play by play person. But a show where we can talk about sports. How would I go about doing that?

How to Break the News of Your Pregnancy

As soon as a woman knows she is pregnant a gamut of emotions come into play.  Depending on the circumstances and the state of the relationship with her partner, breaking out the news could be a worrisome affair.   There has been quite a debate on when is the proper time to break the news.  Perhaps, before you could even determine the most appropriate time to announce this even, you should first determine why proper timing is important.  What more, there are a number of imaginative ways of announcing your big news.

Sharing the big news that moment you find out

The nice thing about sharing the news the very moment you confirm you are pregnant is that you will get all kinds of help from friends and family.  Even the happiness is shared around.  You get to hear all of their advices and suggestions.  The expectant mother will have enough time to sort out all the information and advices she receives and decide on the best medical facilities and doctor.  In the unfortunate event that a miscarriage happens, then she will have more than enough dose of comfort and sympathy from her friends and family surrounding her.

On the other hand, the downside of letting everybody know about your pregnancy in its early stage is the unstoppable flow of advice and suggestions.  Then also, if the pregnancy unfortunately is pre-terminated, you will have to tell the sad circumstance over and over again to a lot of people.

Deciding on how to break the news

The mother has the right to decide who she wants to share the good news with, aside from her partner and family.  The mother should carefully choose to whom she should share the news.  Of course letting her partner in on the secret first strengthens their bond with the child.  The father can share in the responsibility of planning for the future, allow him to give his share of advice as well and the wonderful happy, feeling with the rest.

Deciding on the method of how you will share the news of your pregnancy, especially to your partner is very important.  Stir away from the conventional ways and be more creative.  You could prepare a wonderful romantic dinner that will always be marked because of the memory of the good news.  You can drop a hint by serving baby food for dessert. You can also watch a movie for babies such as Nine month or Junior. You can practice your imagination by writing it in a piece of paper and stick it inside the DVD.  If you can find one, buy a T-shirt which says “Daddy”.  The usual hints are baby keychain, baby book, and various bay playthings.

Sharing the good news with family and friends

Sharing the good news can be done by sending a card with a name you have chosen for the baby together with a sonogram.  Of course, you have to consider how close your relationship is with your friends.  Or you can send them a photo of you and your partner, but keeping your growing belly out of the picture.

How To Break Bad News In 4 Easy Steps

It’s never easy being the bearer of bad news. Wouldn’t you like to stay out of the whole loop until everything blows over? Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. Sometimes, you have to be the one to say it. However, there are ways you can soften the blow. This article shows you how to break bad news to people you care for.

You must be wondering how that is possible. After all, bad news is bad news. Well, think of it this way: If you don’t know how to break bad news, the situation could get worse. A lot worse. So if you want to avoid that situation, read on!

Step 1: Timing Is Everything.

This is about gauging the perfect time to deliver bad news. For example, don’t tell your sister that you lost her favorite ring when you two are in the middle of a fight. Don’t tell your parents that you dropped out of college as soon as they get home from work. Instead, pick a time when the person you’re breaking the bad news to is most willing to listen and not freak out.

Step 2: Put It In Context.

People get upset when they get bad news. However, they somehow feel better when they realize that they could have had it worse.

One of the best ways on how to break bad news is by putting the message in context. Let’s say you have to tell some people that their house got robbed while they were away on vacation. That’s definitely bad news.

However, if you tell them that they were lucky to have not been there at all since the thieves were known to be ruthless, then they’ll have a more positive perspective on the situation.

Step 3: Lessen The Emotional Intensity.

As much as possible, learn how to break bad news in a way that lessens its negative emotional intensity. That means no crying fits or no hiccupping. Try not to show any sign of sorrow or pain in your face that the recipient might pick up on, as this could aggravate the situation.

Step 4: Allow Them To React.

Knowing how to break bad news means allowing them to react. Don’t react for them or before them. Instead, base your reactions on what they do next. If the person you’re talking to cries, then comfort them. If the person is angry, try to calm them down a little.

Now that you know how to break bad news, it might still feel unpleasant when you do it, and you might sometimes even be dragged into the mess. But you can at least rest easy knowing that in some way, you help lighten the other person’s load.

How should I break the news to my girlfriend about her dog?

My girlfriend’s mom is putting down her childhood dog due to old age and suffering and doesn’t have the heart to tell her about it. We live 2 hours away now, and she loves the dog a lot. Her mom wants me to break the news to her, and I have no idea how.

How do you break pregnancy news to coworkers and boss at work?

I have read that you should tell your boss first, so that he doesn’t hear it from someone else first. But I also have 2 very good friends who are also coworkers. Do I tell them first but swear them to secrecy? Do I tell my boss first?
I even considered getting all 3 in the same room and break the news at the same time…

Prison Break News Round-up, May 22

Prison Break has always been the kind of show that leaves viewers with plenty of news to talk about even during its season break. Having such an impact, fans are still talking about news over its Chinese version, its former cast member’s controversial vehicular manslaughter case and its DVD release.

Previously, there have been reports regarding a Chinese production company that has allegedly purchased the rights to generate the Fox hit drama. The said deal is reportedly amounting $1.2 million. The news became a hot item, not just because it’s about Prison Break, but because of the company’s attempt to make its project popular by adapting the original Prison Break characters. Of course, Wentworth Miller’s suspected visit to China has made it even more controversial and highly anticipated. However, this is all just hearsay according to Fox. According to the network, there have been no contracts or negotiations regarding the million-dollar deal.

Another hot item that has been circulating the media for some time now is Lane Garrison’s vehicular manslaughter case. The former Prison Break star has been arraigned in Beverly Hills Superior Court and has already pled guilty to charges brought up against him for getting a 17-year old killed and injuring two other teens while he was drunk driving last December. The actor now faces a maximum jail sentence of six years.

As for the DVD, Fox has finally announced a release date for Prison Break’s season two. Initially, the network has scheduled for an August 21 release date but changed it to August 28. Now, they have moved it to September 4, 2007, which seems to be it final post. The much-awaited DVD is said to contain commentaries on eleven episodes, plus bonus features, which include “Turning Dallas into America”, “Kill Clip” and “Reinvention of a Series.”
