Sports Radio 850 the Buzz – Wrbz and 620 the Bull – Espn Radio Re-sign Carolina Hurricanes Nhl Hall of Fame Voice – Chuck Kaiton
 RALEIGH, N.C. â October 2, 2008 â Sports Radio 850 The Buzz â WRBZ and 620 The Bull â ESPN Radio have renewed an agreement with Hall-of-Fame radio play-by-play voice of the Carolina Hurricanes, Chuck Kaiton, to provide insight and commentary for the 2008/2009 NHL season.Â
Kaiton will be heard during 850 The Buzzâs âStormfrontâ pre-game program prior to each Carolina Hurricanes home game. Additionally, he will join Adam Gold and Joe Ovies weekday mornings following a Carolina Hurricanes game.
 âThere simply is no better voice in the sport of hockey than Chuck Kaiton,â Brian Maloney, WRBZ/WDNC General Manager said.  âOur listeners have tuned in to hear Chuckâs insight on the Canes and the sport of hockey for the past several years, Iâm glad the tradition will continue.â
 âOnce again this season, Iâm proud to be a part of 850 The Buzzâs hockey coverage,â Kaiton said.  âMy goal is to provide Hurricanes fans and NHL fans the most informative and entertaining insights into the great game we all loveâ.Â

 About Chuck Kaiton:
Chuck Kaiton has been the Hurricanesâ franchise only play-by-play radio voice since the team joined the NHL in 1979. The Hockey Hall of Fame announced on May 28, 2004, that Kaiton had been named the 2004 winner of the Foster Hewitt Award, given annually to National Hockey League broadcasters who make outstanding contributions to their profession during their careers. Kaiton became the 26th NHL broadcaster to receive the distinction since the Hall of Fame began recognizing broadcasters in 1984. He received the award following the Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremonies in Toronto on Nov. 8, 2004.
In addition to his work with the team, Kaiton has served as the president of the NHL Broadcasters Association for the past 21 years (1986-2007). A graduate of the University of Michigan, Kaiton began his broadcasting career in 1969 announcing Wolverine sports. In 1975, he went on to cover the University of Wisconsin sports teams and was named Wisconsinâs sportscaster of the year in 1979. Â
