BBC London news has already found scams with new labours 'new' immigration laws – new labour can't be trusted?

Can they?

Watch BBC London news – this is the 'tough' approach!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/londo…

Labour parties everywhere are commie scum. Trust them if they speak for you.
I just don't see how someone who is "pro labour" can trust someone who will import a cheap labour force.

He's to busy saving the World ROFL, to pay attention to the real problems in this Country. as for his new latest policy's they are not going to work and they are only in place to take the Country's mind off this Governments failings on the Economy ETC !.

I have no love for Nu Labia, however it is not them that are doing the scams.
Whichever party brings in new laws and regulations there will always be a criminal element which will try and circumvent the regs.

Nu Labia can be blamed for not making the laws foolproof or making them too confusing but that is not criminal nor a question of trust. more a case of being to stupid to do things properly in the first place.

Should developing nations be able to host huge sporting events?

Should developing nations be able to hold elaborate sporting events at their own expense?
The World Cup had a budget of $4 billion US, and there are obviously high expectations for South Africa to fulfill, but $4 billion is a lot of money, so should a developing nation like South Africa be able to hold expensive events like this?

Also, with the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics both being held in Brazil, that's gonna cost a lot of money, especially for a country like Brazil.

So, should these developing nations be able to hold these expensive sporting events?

umm i don't think South Africa is a developing nation. but hah i say "why not" lol

South Africa is world's 4th and Brazil is world's 5th economy. These countries have money. What's your point?

College Entrance Scores Down: ACT Scores Are Up–SAT Scores Are Down

ACT Scores Are Up–SAT Scores Are Down

        Sep 4, 2007 Barbara Pytel

        Good News/Bad News

More minority students are taking the SAT and ACT tests this year than ever before. That is great news. Students of minority are aspiring to college like never before. That will have positive rewards not only for the students but the economy. However, since minority students have historically scored lower than whites, the average SAT scores are in decline. This can be misleading.

ACT tests are predominantly taken in the Midwest and South. SAT tests are more popular in the east and west coasts. The Midwest tends to be more white and the coasts tend to have more minority students. This factor alone could account for the ACT test rising and the SAT declining.

        SAT

A perfect score on the SAT is 800 on the verbal portion. The highest possible score in math is also 800. The average reading score this year is a 502 which is down from 503 last year. Math is down three points from 518 to 515.

        The Stats

There are some interesting facts surfacing from the recent SAT tests.

        • 1.5 million seniors took the SAT.
        • Hispanic, black and Asian-American students were 39 percent.
        • 35 percent of those taking the SAT are the first in their family to attend college.
        • This is the largest proportion of minority test-takers since 1926, when the SAT was introduced.

        The College Board

The organization that oversees the SAT testing is The College Board. The president of The College Board, Gaston Caperton, said, “The larger the population you get that takes the exam, it obviously knocks down the scores.” This is why using ACT or SAT scores to judge a high school is grossly inaccurate. example: The average ACT score at one high school may be 24 but only 49% of the students took the test. another school could have an average of 22 on the ACT test but 95% of the students took the test. Initially, you may be impressed with the school that had an average score of 24. But, in reality, the school with the score of 22 did better because the majority of the students took the test. The second school is actually producing better results.

        Rich vs. Poor

The SAT data shows that minority and low-income students lag behind middle-class white students. However, the gap is slowly shrinking.

        Average Scores

        • Students who applied for financial aid scored an average of 501 in reading.
        • Students who applied for financial aid scored an average of 508 in math.
        • Black students scored an average of 433 in reading.
        • Black students scored an average of 429 in math.
        • Puerto Rican students scored an average of 459 in reading.
        • Puerto Rican students scored an average of 454 in math.
        • White students scored an average of 527 in reading.
        • White students scored an average of 534 in math.

        Fair Test

There is an organization called Fair Test at www.fairtest.org, that opposes the requirement of taking standardized tests for college entrance. Public education director Robert Schaeffer says, “The 10-year trend shows math scores steadily rising and critical reading scores moderately rising until the new test was introduced, and suddenly they plunged.” Schaeffer would like to see both the ACT and SAT no longer required.

        The ACT Test

Test scores released in August of 2007 show that the ACT scores slightly increased. The Midwest could be doing a better job educating students or there could be fewer minority students in the Midwest to account for the higher scores.

Winter Olympic Snowboarding Events | The Life of Xtreme Sports

        Tourism beyond the Winter Olympics

The increase in tourism has been rapidly increasing in Whistler for many years. Noted for being one of the best skiing and Snowboarding Areas in the world, having the largest skiing area in North America as well has having summer activities to match the winter, including world class golfing, mountain biking and hiking, thanks to the abundance of mountains warmed by the sea air in the summer making it an outdoor enthusiasts dream.

Up until a couple of years ago, the increase in tourism had been fast but steady and controlled. since the decision for Whistler to host the winter Olympics in 2010 things have changed.

The recent unprecedented level of resort development comes with some urgency, as most developers want to take advantage of the attention the 2010 Winter Olympics will bring to the area. Despite skyrocketing construction costs, developers are feeling confident. the Government of Whistler has challenged the tourism industry to double in size by 2015 and interest in recreational real estate is so high that many projects are sold out before construction even begins.

With a strong economy and the boost in global awareness that the Olympics will bring, the future of tourism in B.C over the next few years looks healthy. the questions arise when long term growth comes into question. Firstly the capacity – will enough people come to Whistler to fill the beds?

Much of North America considers Whistler a difficult place to get too, and with impending tourism increase means possible problems with traffic, demand in air travel and traffic problems around B.C., which may put people off going there. another potential problem is that most resort development is predicated on the sale of recreational real estate, whether its condo units, time share units, cabins or real estate lots. For a lot of people their considerable investment in recreational real estate means they are going to spend their vacation time using the property. they are less likely to be traveling around the province and sampling the various resorts being developed.

With increasing costs in Whistler and BC, Canadians may be put off the idea of visiting Whistler, instead choosing holidays abroad or to other destinations away from the spotlight that Whistler has fallen under.

These are not potentially catastrophic problems for the area but illustrate a need for long term planning and thought into the development of Whistler, and how to maintain momentum once the Olympics is over.

Poor planning has often led to post-Olympic areas being turned into ghost towns, with unused facilities, empty housing etc. however, with limited space in Whistler, careful thought has led to large areas of the Olympic village being turned into housing after the event, the majority of which for employees of the event. This will limit the possibility of unscrupulous developers ruining the area trying to cash in and potentially destroying the beauty of Whistler.

Despite the doubts and the potential for problems beyond the Olympics, the area looks set to continue with impressive growth in tourism, with 88 major tourism related development projects already underway, worth a combined 17 billion CAD.

How are you dealing with the recent Septa strike?

I hate it and I am mad at Septa and the union people. I honestly don’t think they deserve any more money. I mean honestly what money do we have to really give them? Especially in this economy! I use Septa everyday and this has been very tough on my boyfriend and my self. We have 1 car and we both work. He’s been doing 4 hours a day, driving. he is so tired when we get home and stressed! This is just so ridiculous!

How are you dealing with the recent Septa strike?
