2011 NFL Lockout: Will Owners Wise Up And Choose Football Over Money?

As all NFL fans, we are losing our patients with the way the NFL and it’s players are negotiating. They seem to have forgotten who is the main group  behind all of that 9 Billion dollars in revenue that they are fighting over, the fans.

Instead of looking at ways for each side to get more money out of our pockets, they should be devising a plan that will put more back in, because in the end it will be us that pays one way or another.

We need to have our voices heard also. is there anyone in the negotiations that is speaking on the fans behalf ?

I love the NFL and next to my wife and children, I love the New Orleans Saints, but there will be a line that eventually the owners and players will cross, and because of that, most fans will not come back.

Look at baseball,  and even hockey as examples, their attendance has not been the same since they went on strike. I know that the owners are the ones who have locked out the players, but essentially it is the same thing. Bottom line no games.

The fans are the main group of people that are loosing here. Fans of all NFL teams are buying their products, attending games, even though most really can not even afford to do so.

Most fans can’t afford to bring their whole families. with this economy the cost is just to much for most of us. Somehow I feel that price is about to become ever higher once the dust settles from all of the hearings and negotiations.

Thanks for call my friend Richard a car next planet Mikey rich.

Hey Mike I like you know I’m a little confused — we understand what you’re saying here you’re saying that. The pitchers and the managers did not pitch to him because they didn’t want to break that.

Elevated — and they want to lose the game.

poker yet but you know — so. It’s this seemed to elect with a view that. It’s more local personal like gobbles hatred that you have a bad output Barry Bonds rather than all that — but don’t.

Actually it’s not a hate the steroid era. as much as any any — on this earth because of what it’s done to the game into the records and all that stuff. You know I think that’s as shameful episode in in baseball’s history. but Barry Bonds was the figurehead. For the entire era and it may be the most arrogant of all the people that — involved. why wouldn’t — Because broke this record as he broke the single season record for home runs and he broke the all time record for home runs and he didn’t deserve either.

Well you know look I do believe that Barry Barnes took steroids. are like many other than. You know every of this yeah but you know what. Did he takes a special steroids but they’ll also take. You know it seems like that. The court that he demonstrated. it yet more ridicule. that other players did that would take it certainly does well no more talent you know — get it topple ball like I but maybe — You know I don’t know Barry boy — never met him will never — so. I don’t need that could be smiling for the camera or that doesn’t. it did that and I don’t need people like that I can admire what does it be great if you look at night got but that doesn’t like. That’s not the end all be all in the interest of sport in — that moderate the panel.

Okay you admired the talent let’s say let’s say it was a completely natural gifted hitter in his first ten seasons let’s just give him credit for — on not on steroids. After all it was — years and maybe a first reformist giants here’s okay you you and I together let’s say that’s Barry Bonds. Okay I admire that that skilled too now did I like him as a person know he’s always been so early. little bit nasty you know means of fans and offers — depressed that’s all fired at that’s not the what do you judge you wanna judge baseball skills any act crap however. oh wait no that’s more that’s all part of the Barry Bonds mix now — in whether or not you’d think he should.

You knew it but it’s the same but ultimately. Sorely. Ought not nasty to the immediate — all right but the media absolutely. No question about it. so if you base — on why it Ted Williams solo. BC you know that don’t but I’m not basing it on just that I’ve you know why you — you — OUPD. Is. — immune lists the reasons for you big standing as I’m happy to do that for you. An idea why you’d say it yesterday and that’s all you maybe okay there. At that it that I haven’t yet.

About that’s right and that there are many other players to steroids who want anything like Barry Bonds as people and has an as representatives of the game. — but don’t know at this center at minute now the same reputation with the media that’s a separate issue okay. — does does Barry Bonds you know sit in a Jimmy Fund. Patients hotel under a rather hospital room. All night long — kids can’t Desi — three does — in two wars it’s almost four years on the middle of his career to fight for this country. Wall. Go read or know what that. Okay there’s other things about Barry Bonds — dealings with people up and down the street — you listen to the tape of him with his mistress. — and that rich. — almighty god is — why does it keep going back to Ted Williams will you grant me the point. that Barry Bonds is not well liked amongst his teammates the media or the rest of baseball. You grant we got point. oh Christ the — thanks rich. He wants to have the discussion — wanna have the discussion. maybe Richard go to Google and Google Barry Bonds and find out everything that the rest of — seem to know about what a miserable you’re the guy ones.

Are New Orleans Saints OT Jon Stinchcomb and S Roman Harper overrated? Saints mailbag

      Published: Wednesday, March 02, 2011, 11:41 AM     Updated: Wednesday, March 02, 2011, 2:42 PM

Welcome to today’s New Orleans Saints mailbag. We’ll have more coming soon, as well as some video mailbags.

Roman Harper new Orleans Saints vs. Minnesota VikingsThe Times-PicayuneNew Orleans Saints defensive back Roman Harper had a good season.

Keep those questions coming, send to saintsmailbag@timespicayune.com. Please remember to add your name and hometown.

      On to the Q@A:

      1. I’ve heard and read varying opinions about the offensive line, and in particular the tackles. from watching the games, it seems to me that Stinchcomb struggles more in pass protection but Bushrod is the one who gets the attention as struggling – probably because he isn’t a big name tackle. do the Saints need to upgrade at the tackle spot, and is Charles Brown ready or does he need another year or two? also, do you know if the coaching staff is looking to Charles Brown as a left or right tackle?

      Thanks,

      Kevin

      Vancouver, Canada

Let’s unpack that one, Kevin. for starters, I think every team is interested in upgrading at tackle, given the importance of the position in the passing game. This doesn’t mean every team is in the market for a tackle at all times, just that it’s a position GMs, scouts, and coaches pay special attention to each year.

Now Stinchcomb might be becoming a weak link. I hate to even type that, as he’s been a very solid player for the Saints for years and all of us who cover the team consider him a total professional in how he handles himself. But guys get old and banged up in football, and as you note he struggled at times. he struggled quite visibly in the playoff game at Seattle, getting flagged and beat in a crucial fourth quarter possession deep in Saints territory with the game still up for grabs.

But Brown, in my opinion, isn’t quite ready. Fortunately for Brown, of course, my opinion doesn’t carry much weight in the coaches’ office and Mickey Loomis gave Brown an explicit vote of confidence when speaking with me last month. And Loomis is correct in this respect: the fact Brown was inactive week after week is not indicative of how much promise the Saints think he has. he was a rookie, and as he told me early in the season the Saints offensive schemes were very different from those he played at Southern Cal and Brown acknowledged he found the learning curve a steep one. If he was going to play more this year, though, it would likely be at right tackle where he would spell and, perhaps, eventually replace Stinchcomb.

      2. What does the Saints leadership see in Roman Harper that keeps him a Saint? I see someone who is easily run over, consistently over runs plays, has poor ball skills, so-so speed and so-so coverage skills, and appears afraid to go after big guys. I commend him for his durability and his tackling from behind.

Why does the Saints leadership see what they see and I see what I see and we’re SO different in our observations? Is he being kept for trade bait?

      John

      Windsor, Maine

I gotta say, John, I think I see the same player Saints leadership sees and I’m not sure why you don’t. now it’s true Harper had two ‘bad’ games and they came at inopportune times. But consider: the first, vs. Atlanta in new Orleans, came when he spent the night covering a tight end widely regarded as a first ballot Hall of Famer. And although Tony Gonzalez had a big night, remember that often Harper *was* there, he was in coverage, and Gonzalez just made the play. Sometimes the other guy is really good, and it’s not that your guy is bad. The second glaring bad game, in my opinion, was the playoff game at Seattle – again, not a good time to be flat. But, in Harper’s defense, he was playing without Malcolm Jenkins at free safety, which hurt the secondary a lot, and the whole defense played poorly, magnifying Harper (who did make 7 tackles that day).

Look, stats aren’t perhaps as telling in football as they are in baseball. But the book on Harper tells the story of a good player whom the Saints are absolutely right in holding on to. he has had 100 tackles or more three straight seasons. he started 15 games last year – even you, John, commend his durability. And in 2010 he had 82 solo stops, 3 sacks, a pick, 10 passes defended, five forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. he added 9 more tackles on special teams.

With all due respect, John, you’re wrong. Roman Harper deserved his trip to Hawaii in January.

Mass effect 3, any good site where I can get the latest news of the game?

As you might know, I am looking for a site where I can recieve the latest news of Mass Effect 3.

Well, it's a game by Bioware, so you are going to have to wait about ten years before it is even mentioned.

I believe the best places to look for the latest news for games are gaming sites, like Gamespot or IGN.

How can I watch every New Orleans Saints game after I move to Boston?

I'm a die-hard Saints fan, but this August I'm moving up to Boston for college, so I expect to only be able to watch the Saints when they play the Pats or Giants. Is there a site where I can stream the games for free?

          justin.tv

          or

          channelsurfing.net

They still play it on tv. if you go to a sports bar, they will show it too. I moved to utah and I am a cowboys fan and they play just about every game.

            Thank you, Utah!

Boy oh boy, the trade deadline is making people go bananas!

With the departure of Deron Williams to New Jersey, Utah just did us a favor! the eighth playoff spot is looking more and more promising! the loss of their coach and franchise player has set the Jazz set up for a fall from the pedestal.

Now, what do the Suns need to do? if they are not going to make any trades, they need to severely buckle down and play ball. Forget all of the distractions, forget the fact that they are not supposed to make the playoffs, and just play ball.

We need to win the games we are supposed to and steal some of the ones we’re not. We’re close. the playoffs are not out of the question at this point and Utah sending Deron Williams to Jersey has made it even closer.

I usually use this in a TOTALLY different context but, Deron Williams, the Western Conference hates to see you go, but loves to watch you leave!

              New Images Of Olympic Events

London 2012 has released a handful of new images illustrating how some of the non-Olympic Park events will look during the Games.

The images show Lords dressed up to host the archery; Greenwich Park in all its equestrian finery (a decision that has been among the most contentious of the Games); and the Lee Valley White Water Centre.

The director of Populous, the practice in charge of managing the architecture of the Games, said that the aim is, wherever possible, to keep London as “the backdrop” to events by ensuring that prime views are not cut off by temporary bleachers. Common to all the images are crowds of enthusiastic spectators waving their country’s flag, which seems appropriate, and beautiful blue summer skies, which (as anyone familiar with a British August) doesn’t.

In other Olympic news, construction on the main stadium just passed the 1,000 day mark. the London 2012 blog has some photos of the stadium’s progress from dusty bowl to nearly-finished 80,000-seater arena.

How would you react if the New Orleans Saints were to win the NFC Championship in 2006?

If the New Orleans Saints won the 2006 NFC Championship in 2006, I think it would be great for the City of New Orleans and the championship would help the New Orleans economy on Super Bowl Sunday.

Party all day long. it can happen if they stay as the second seed in the NFC.

I wouldn't act no different..just walk around and say i told you so to alot of ppl…The Saints had been a under the radar team most of the year….i think they have a legitimate shot at the Championship.

That would be an amazing story, to see the Saints go so far into the playoffs after what happened to the city.

we all know that they wont win any ways so dont need to worry about it

i would be happy for New Orleans but upset my Eagles didnt win

Outside of the Cowboys they are the team I would like to see win the superbowl or at least make it.

If the Saints are not your main team they are porbably your second favorite team for most people. Not only because of Katrina, but also because they have alot of good young players that are fun to watch.

There defense may be suspect in big games though.

As a Cowboys fan I'll be happy for them that community needs something special like that..I would as be pulling for them in the Super Bowl…..good Luck N.O Saints!!!!go Cowboys!!!

wow that would be amazing that city deserves it it isn't just hope for the football orginazation its hope for a city that needs it the most.

I would be shocked, then I would wake up and see that my Bears have won.

im not sure what i would do. i would be in shock

if they won i would immediately think set-up. everyone wants the saints to win so the nfl will set it up so they do, it makes great drama

I would get down and party all the way to New Orleans, and eat, drink, and,go to Fat Donimos crib and hang out with him.

I would be disappointed. Nope they have to wait at least a year. See people are claiming the Superbowl was fixed last year and if the Saints go this year it will keep up claiming that the game is fixed. I almost think the NFL is rooting against them. Yeah openly they are totally for them but deep down they really don't want them to go that far because conspiracy will start.

ok DANEGER screw you!!! I am from Louisiana just across the water from New Orleans. we deserve to win the Championship. we have worked hard this yr coming back from devistation.

to answer the question…i will party till the surperbowl…put it that way. i am a diehard saints fan!! even last yr when we were 3-13 i still stuck by my saints!!

                I'd be shocked!

                How would I react?

I'd probably join you in that crack pipe you're smoking!!!!

                I'm actually neutral about it

I'm a Cowboys fan, but if the boys don't win it I'd be glad to see N.O. win it. it would be good for the city…

How would you react if the New Orleans Saints were to win the NFC Championship in 2006?

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The University of North Dakota says sophomore hockey forward Danny Kristo is now listed in fair condition at a St. Paul, Minn., hospital.

The Eden Prairie, Minn., native was taken to Regions Hospital after suffering frostbite to toes on his right foot while walking near campus Sunday evening. The university has not provided any further details about the incident, citing student privacy.

Coach Dave Hakstol tells the Grand Forks Herald that Kristo did not break any team rules.

Kristo ranks second on the team in assists, with 17 in 29 games. The university says he’s out indefinitely.

Kristo is a draft pick of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens.

Mac's Football Blog: Titans to Release or Trade Vince Young

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams has made the decision to move on without quarterback Vince Young, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports.

“Today, I informed our general manager Mike Reinfeldt to move forward with plans to begin the process of identifying the next quarterback for our franchise. He will inform Vince Young’s agent that Vince will not be on our roster next season,” Adams said. “I want to offer my personal thanks to Vince for all of his positive contributions to the club. these kinds of decisions are never easy and this is especially true for this particular player. I certainly wish that things would have worked out better, but I think it is best for the franchise that we move on at this point.”

Chosen with the third overall pick of the 2006 NFL Draft out of the University of Texas, Young (6-5, 232) has started 47 of 54 games over the last five seasons, two of which (2005, 2009) ended with trips to the Pro Bowl.

Young has completed 689-of-1,190 pass attempts for 8,098 yards with 42 touchdowns and 42 interceptions, compiling a 75.7 passer rating. Young added 1,380 yards and 12 touchdowns on 264 rushing attempts.

Young, who turns 28 in may, is under contract for one more season. had the Titans retained him, it would have cost them $12.75 million in total compensation.

“I talked with Vince’s agent Tom Condon today and informed him that Vince will not figure into the club’s plans for next season,” Reinfeldt said. “Under league rules, Vince’s contract cannot be terminated until February 7 when waivers begin for the new season. Similarly, he cannot be traded to another club until trading begins on the first day of the league year. until then, Vince is welcome to rehab his injury either here at our facility or elsewhere.”

Young, who finished the season on injured reserve with a thumb injury, was not present for the team’s final meeting and exit physical on Monday.

The pending departure of Young likely means the team plans to retain head coach Jeff Fisher, though Adams did not confirm that was the case in his statement.
