Why Serena Williams will NEVER hold a candle to Steffi Graf?

Steffi Graf holds the all-time record for most weeks at No.1 for both men and women at 377 weeks. as of April 6, 2008, Serena Williams has been ranked number one for only 57 weeks.

So what?

Nobody will ever hold hold a candle to Steffi. what is the point of this non-question. ?????????????

Forget weeks at the top. unless Serena can find a way to win another 14 Majors before she hangs it up, she's got no chance of getting up there with Steffi.

Indeed.

but how long would she last on Dancing with the Stars?

these days are over.. no player will remain as dominant as players did back then… things are not the same anymore..

Steffi hold the record 377 weeks at #1 because Monica Seles, her #1 rival was stabbed in the back by a German who was later acquitted, how convenience…German justice indeed…

Serena has certainly proved herself to be one of the best players ever because she has won many grandslams and was not # 1 for those 57 weeks for nothing. It's true she's kind of collapsed a bit but from the way she's been playing so far this year she has recomitted herself to tennis. She's got so much fight and competitive fire in her that makes her a great champion and no matter what people say about her or put her down she's still going to be around. People always focus on the negative things and they don't applaud the many good things she's accomplished. She's certainly not Steffi Graf nobody can or ever will be like Steffi, but Serena has worked her butt off to be who she is today, give the girl credit that she's due.

I totally agree with GANNOWAY! Well, said! I was a BIG fan of Monica Seles….she was totally dominating women's tennis when the stabbing happened. I followed this story very closely and listened to everything that was said after Monica got stabbed. I wish that more people, including Steffi, would put her wins and successes into perspective. This whole thing left a very bad taste in my mouth. it was like nobody cared about the victim!

To answer your question….how many weeks would Steffi have held number one if Monica Seles had not been stabbed! We'll never know, but it must be taken into consideration.

As for Serena, her candle is burning pretty brightly.

Steffi Graf and Serena Williams are in two different eras of tennis, the game today is much harder, and anyone can win on any given day. Also Serena's tennis career has been hampered by injuries, she could have one so much more if it wasn't for her injuries, specifically her left knee.

    What are some olympic events that have distance as their results?

    Distance like 800m or 600m as the results of the event. the event has to include men and women.

    If you mean that the results are the distance covered, then long jump, triple jump, discus, shot, hammer, and javelin are the events where the distance is the results.

      Why You Should Support Tiger Woods

      I don’t condone what Tiger Woods did by any means and I firmly believe that any apology isn’t enough to make up for what he put his family through.

      However, as a sports fan I am rooting for him.

      I’m sure a lot of you are asking how can I support someone who completely failed as a role model and has more issues chasing him than Travis Henry has child support payments.

      Well the answer is simple, I love watching great athletes. That is what sports is about, right? Watching men and women compete at elite levels against each other.

      Tiger Woods isn’t just any athlete. Just like LeBron James isn’t just another basketball player. he is a once in a lifetime athlete. I’m not old enough to remember anything about Jack Nicklaus just like I’m too young to have watched and appreciated Michael Jordan.

      I am old enough to have watched Tiger from the start. I’ve watched him go from the charismatic kid that was going to change golf to the buff, focused machine that had the golf world in the palm of his hand.

      Every sport has great athletes, but it is extremely rare to find someone that changes the way we talk, watch, and analyze the sport. I don’t need to go into how much he has dominated since joining the Tour and I don’t need to remind you how insane it is that people routinely pick him against the field.

      Golf is about as unpredictable as it comes just because of the extraordinary amount of variables that go into a tournament. Every tournament is different just based on who is playing, how have they been playing, what course is it, how is the weather, have they made changes to course, and it goes on.

      Yet with all of these factors, Tiger rose above the variable. The answer just became “Well, Tiger is playing.”

      I’m not suggesting we go back to praising Tiger like we did or that we let him off the hook for his “transgressions.”

      I am suggesting that as sports fans, we enjoy and remember the fact that we are watching a once in a lifetime athlete. we are watching someone that has not only single handedly elevated the sport of golf, but elevated above the sport itself.

      We are watching Tiger Woods.
