Did Juan Willians deserve to be fired by NPR for saying he gets uncomfortable on a plane?

if he sees a lot of muslims on it?

If you think he deserved to be fired for saying the truth about how he feels uncomfortable in such insances, please explain why.

No, he didn't.

I've come to the conclusion that he was fired because he said it on "the O'Reilly Factor".

Now I'm the first to admit I disagree with O'Reilly on… well basically everything, and many times despise the things O'Reilly says, and his arrogance. But this guy was just saying what he, and many other Americans, feel.

It's a political war, that we find ourselves in today.

Atheists can rage against the Christian faith with impunity and never be censored. in fact they will be hired and paid money BECAUSE they are atheists and make these bigoted and hurtful statements…. funny how atheists are never hired to rage against the Muslim faith? it is the same God after all. I was not angry when that black man screamed the "N" word in my face….I used it as an indication we probably would not be friends….that the man had anger issued and was prejudice…. not someone I would WANT to be friends with……I was not angry when the police or border patrol stopped me and searched my car…. First I had nothing to hide and second if the minor inconvenience stopped drunk drivers or stopped drug smuggling…..if it saved one child's life…. I was happy to do my part ….

Personally I like to hear people freely express themselves.. execute their right of free speech without restraint …… I would rather know when someone is a racist… than have him hide behind a smiling face…… I would rather know my child and my nation are safer…. rather than at risk because someone might get their feelings hurt
Juan Williams expressed a personal opinion…. and whether I agree with that opinion or not or even like Mr Williams is not important………he should NOT be punished….it is not like NPR has sponsors to worry about.. I personally feel Mr Williams was fired for two reasons one because of PC and a second reason he is conservative working at a predominately liberal media outlet…. they did not fire Bill Moyers when he attacked President Bush unfairly on NPR… Juan Williams was just expressing feelings most people have….even some Muslims (more Muslims die from terrorists than we ever killed in war) NPR is only supported by the government to the tune of 2%….. Mr Williams was the token conservative on a liberal media outlet….. his departure was just a matter of time….they were just waiting for an excuse….. NPR's disdain is exemplified by the fact they fired him by phone…..they did not even have the decency to do it in person

No, he was stating a personal opinion which in America he has a right to express. Political correctness is used by the Left to silence people on the right who have common sense.

No Muslim with bad intentions is going to board a plane wearing "Muslim garb" so as to draw attention to himself. it was a stupid statement but he had the right to say it anyway.

No but the president of NPR ought to be fired for saying Williams needed to seek a psychiatrist

You luck would be better by hitting a variety of offshore media sites. People looking at us from a distance tend to see things here more clearly than we seem to from the inside.

Keep in mind that everyone is biased in some fashion. only by getting a wide range of what you sample are you going to get any balance and some clear version of what is really going on. You are the one who has to decide what that most likely median really is in the end.

Even "eyewitness" reports need to be checked up on, since the truth can change with the point of view.

Rape allegations against WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange are a set-up, his mother says.

‘I know for a fact he wouldn’t rape anybody, it was a set-up,’ Christine Assange has told the Courier Mail.

Interpol on Wednesday issued a global arrest warrant for the 39-year-old Australian founder of the WikiLeaks website, as the chaos from its massive dump of secret US cables spread from governments to financial markets.

He is wanted in Sweden for questioning over the alleged rape and molestation of two women. He denies the charges.

Ms Assange, who moved to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast five weeks ago, said her son had distanced himself from the family for their own safety.

‘I’m concerned it’s gotten too big and the forces that he’s challenging are too big,’ she told the newspaper.

She said her son was a highly ethical person and had always been a ‘seeker of truth’.

‘He sees what he’s doing as doing a good thing in the world, fighting baddies if you like.’

She said mr Assange was a highly intelligent child, who himself became a father to son Daniel, now 21, at the age of 18.

She said the way he dealt with fatherhood at an early age was a measure of his character.

‘Jules put his life and university studies on hold to parent Daniel and be there for him,’ Ms Assange said.
