What is the difference between a sports physical and a regular physical for a 13 year old male?
I just wanted to know what the difference between a sports physical and a regular physical for a 13 year old male is. I am getting a physical done for track in the next week, so I am wondering what the difference between the two is.
Edit: Yes, this is for school. At my school they make you get a physical before you can do any sports.

2007—the Worst Year of Sports World
Drugs, denials, defamation, and deathsâthe world of sports has seen all these and more in 2007. In short, many sports of sports world hogged the limelight for the wrong reasons this year. And most of these controversies came to light at the end of 2007âwhether it was Mclaren teamâs involvement in the Ferrari spying saga or American sprint queen Marion Jones confession that she took performance enhancing drugs in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games or the former world number one Martina Hingis getting caught in drug test for cocaine consumption.
Thatâs just few cases. Letâs talk about athletics first. Athletics, which normally springs to limelight only during the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, first hit the headlines when Asafa Powell created 100m world record by clocking 9.74 sec in Rieti, Italy. He then announced to the world that he is capable of running 100m even faster than this. And the world of sport was in jubilant mood, when suddenly shocking news about Marion Jones confessing about the use of performance enhancing drugs disrupted the jubilant mood of sports fans.
For many sports fans, it was hard to believe that confession. Marion Jones had won five Olympic medals during the 2000 Sydney Olympic games.
During that same time in October, Mclarenâs was fiercely fighting Ferrari team both on the formula 1 racing circuit and at the court in the spying saga case. Unfortunately, Mclaren, who was having great time in the Formula One with both its driver in contention for driverâs championship and itself as a sole contender for the constructorâs championship, but sadly, they lost everythingâthe case and the championship in both category.
Formula One was also in news for the infighting between the McLaren teammatesâLewis Hamilton and Alonso Fernando.
Then, tennis sport that so far never got negative publicity suddenly was in news when Andy Murray revealed that men to throw away match approached him. He came out with other starling revelation that many tennis players were aware of this. Soon, few hardly known tennis players too strengthen Murrayâs claim that men to play sub-par too approached them.
And amid talk about match fixing, the governing body of tennis began its enquiry and poor Nikolay Davydenko was grilled for losing a match against a low-ranked player, but later ATP tennis gave him a clean chit.
The other negative press that tennis got was when Martina Hingis was reported that she had tested positive for drug test during Wimbledon.
All these cases and controversies will be forgotten in sports world, but what will haunt the sports world for long will be the deaths of Bob Woolmer, Pakistan cricket coach who died in mysterious condition during the 2007 World Cup in South Africa, and the death of American marathoner Ryan Shay during the U.S. Olympic menâs marathon trials for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
May their souls rest in peace?

Take Advantage of the Slowest News Time of the Year
Too much hustle and bustle this holiday season? Bah, humbug. The slowest news time is upon us.
You may have heard that “timing is everything” and that is even more true in media relations. But how do you know when is the best time to send a news release?
Most news organization won’t tell you this, but the slowest time of the year are holidays – with the week between Christmas and New Year’s the mother of all slow times. That’s because almost every office is closed or short staffed, so that no news is generated during that week.
You know those slow news days: it’s when the news covers about five parades, four soup kitchens and the atest celebrity weddings or divorces as major stories.
During these slow news times, journalists are hungry for news stories. A savvy publicist will take advantage of this and keep some ideas just for this time.
If you hit a great angle on a slow news day, you may find yourself looking at your own picture and a 30-inch story in your morning paper. You can even get coverage in major markets such as New York and Los Angeles; in some ways it’s easier, because the daily papers in those cities are huge, and have a larger “news hole” to fill.
But also, community and neighborhood papers in those large markets are extremely receptive, even if you don’t get into the biggest paper in town. And small town or ethnic papers are often desperate for your news. The more complete, concise, and well-written your release, the better its chances of being used.
Here are some great ways to get some coverage:
1) Surveys and polls – Reporters love these if you have a good sampling of people. Surveys and polls are quick and easy to report on. Why not conduct one during the holiday sales season and announce the results during the slow week? If you are a business coach, how about a survey on what business owners fear most for the upcoming year.
2) Trends – Did you see a trend this season? Was there something that flew off your shelves that you didn’t expect to? Then let the media know.
3) Tips – These are great fillers — especially for newspapers when the paid advertising space has dwindled down after the holiday frenzy. Think of four to seven tips that relate to your customers or clients needs and write them in a news release format.
The key here is not only to give them newsworthy tidbits, but actually be available for interviews and questions when other people normally are not. You’ll be the hero and remembered in the future.
Another great thing to do during this time is to give the reporters who cover your topic a call and talk to them. Perhaps set up a time to meet or take them to lunch. This wouldn’t be used for pitching, but to build a relationship and find out more about what the journalist is looking for.
The holidays are the slowest news times of the year. When government offices are closed, so are most of a reporter’s sources. Take advantage of it.
In fact, take out your calendar and begin circling government holidays. If the government isn’t making news, reporters are scrambling to find something to cover. Pitch even an average story on a day when the media is starving for news, and you’re much more likely to get coverage.
