Meet the First Man to Catch 1000 Different Species of Fish …

an ace angler broke the ultimate fishing record, becoming the first person in the world to catch 1,000 different species of fish. Steve Wozniak, 47, of San Ramon, Calif., spent 10 years pursuing the astonishing quest, which involved him fish in 63 different countries.

Steve spent 20,000 hours on riverbanks, piers, beaches and boats waiting for a fish, ranging from a tiny minnow to a 900-pound shark. he has forked over more than $80,000 and racked up over one million air miles crisscrossing the globe with his rod and tackle over the last decade. his efforts finally paid off when he ensnared a 2-pound coalfish in a Norwegian fjord to net the record that is being dubbed the “Cast of a Thousand.”

Kudos to you, Steve. We appreciate you keeping our waters clear of giant mutant goldfish that could kill us all. However, we do request a family photo, if one of these monsters tries to chew your daughter’s arm off.

Keep reading for shots of some of Steve’s favorite catches.
